This recap and review contains spoilers for the S2 E11 meMento.
Lauren becomes very interested in her ancestors the Von Struckers. Kate is insistent on continuing the fight against the Inner Circle. Though John is still down for the count from being kidnapped and tortured.
Lauren’s powers are getting stronger. She nearly tears apart her room with some moves I’ve never seen her pull before.
Clarice is worried about John. This season we have seen his anger grow as he blames himself for the events of last season where many mutants lost lives in Atlanta.
Reeva brings in some ringers, a group of escaped mutant prisoners. Andy is impressed, Lorna, not so much. Lorna recruits Marcos to help stop Reeva. These new mutants have killed families, children, and Lorna isn’t here for it. During the bank heist Reeva seem to not want any casualties but there is a bigger plan at play this time.
“You are royalty.
Their job is to destroy, yours is to build from the ashes.”
Clarice and Marcos hit the sewers to find the Morlocks for help while Lorna ties to squeeze information out of the new mutants. It is apparent that Reeva is keeping them in the dark, the same way she did Lorna and Andy when they first arrived. Erg, the leader of the Morlocks, once again tries to recruit Clarice. As long as she has feelings for John I don’t believe she would join them.
Jace is not letting up on his fight to find the mutants of the underground. He catches up with some teenage mutants. One of them, a black teen who compares the purifiers to the klan when Jace asks “why did you run”? “You’re purifiers. Ya’ll like the klan. My granddaddy didn’t need a reason to run from the klan and neither did yours.” Though Jace says it is not about hate and he doesn’t hate mutants, another purifier has shot a teen in the other room. This comparison resonated with Jace regardless of how much he tries to justify his and the purifiers actions. Jace LIES for the purifier to the police, saying the teen looked as if he may attack.
Lorna finally apologizes to Marcos, admitting she treated him terribly. Of course this is what Marcos has been waiting for for so long
John receives a call telling him the underground is collapsing and to “gather your people, be ready.” The members of the underground are being gathered to fight.
Now, I don’t know if this Von Strucker music box possessed Lauren or not but she goes to their landlord and gives him the business for calling the cops on her family, realizing the cops only knocked on her family’s door.
Reeva, Reeva, Reeva. Lorna and Marcos see Reeva meet with Benedict Ryan and exchange envelopes.
In the next episode it looks like Lorna will have to choose a side.
The Gifted airs Tuesday nights on Fox.
