SEAL Team Puts Boots on The Ground in Turkey

This recap and review contains spoilers for S2E12 Things Not Seen.

The team sets out to “save” a young American woman who married an ISIS leader. Bravo team goes in with “limited access, intel, and over watch,” nobody likes this situation. There is nothing to indicate the woman IS NOT a hostage but there is also no clear indication that she IS a hostage. Bravo team could be ambushed.

When the team finds the woman she is strapped to a chair that is wired to explode if they move her. The expertise of these men is amazing, to be able to see the small, thin wire attached to the chair.

Ray points out that someone was likely waiting for an explosion and when they don’t hear one they will be showing up soon, and Bravo team is like “fish in a barrel” in their current position. How will they get out of this one?

As predicted, someone shows up in what looks like a homemade tank. There is no way anything is penetrating that thing. As the team adjusts their positions, this guy jumps on Clay out of nowhere! Bravo is outnumbered with ten men approaching their location. Jenna, the “hostage,” is distraught, sitting on a bomb, telling Ray she’s “sorry” and “I didn’t know about this.”

I’m with Sonny on this one, I’m not convinced she’s not the honey for bait. If she moves everyone is dead!

The bomb is finally defused but as the team is heading for the door a rocket is launched inside and they throw themselves to the ground for cover. Jenna’s leg is injured in the explosion. Bravo team fights their way out and heads back home.

On a personal note, we see Clay’s father attempt to mend some fences and get back in his life. Of course this is a fail. When Clay meets his father for “a drink” he sees an interview of him on TV where he’s speaking about classified SEAL team missions and saying that is what his next book will be about. Clay is betrayed again. This poor thing is having a time! First his girl leaves him, now his dad is lying to his face. I hope his luck turns around.

Ray is still struggling with the events of Mexico. He should be getting his new baby baptized but can’t bring himself to decide on a date. Also during the mission, we learn he hasn’t prayed in a long time. He needs to resolve these issues within himself to move on.

Sonny and Davis looked like they were enjoying each other’s company but Sonny discovers her officer school training materials and his whole attitude changes. When he confronts her after the mission she wants to talk about it but he is DONE. Sonny thinks pursuing anything further would be a mistake and they should go back to the way things were. Sonny isn’t fooling anyone; he REALLY likes Davis. He might be soured for the moment but I would like to see them come back to each other in the future.

SEAL Team airs Wednesday nights on CBS.
