This recap and review contains spoilers for S20E11 Plastic.
Drugs, drugs, and more drugs. The victim in this episode is a 30 year old woman who was incapacitated with a variety of drugs, someone drugged her drink at a party. After she escapes her attackers, she wanders the streets for help. When someone finally answers one of the many doors she bang on she was taken to the hospital. She was able to recall that it was a man and woman who raped her through the haziness of the drugs.
The couple is easily identifiable since the man is a well known plastic surgeon. The couple insists that the victim, Ava, wanted to go home with them for a threesome. We are in a he said, she said, she said.
Ava is convincing enough in her outrage for the SVU to search the couple’s home. Several thumb drives were found with recordings of multiple threesomes, some where the third woman appeared to be in pain or unconscious, along with tons of prescription drugs,
These people are something else. A few of the women questioned say the sex was consensual. The couple even goes on television to “go on the offensive,” saying Ava must be looking for a payday.
Detective Carisi finds an encrypted video on on the doctor’s computer, a video of him with an underage a girl taken while he was still in medical school. Carisi and Finn take a trip to the house the doctor used to rent while he was in school. Low and behold they find a body buried in the basement wall. He may not go away for rape but he may hit the cells for murder.
Unfortunately, the bones did not match the DNA of runaway Cece who they identified from the video. Olivia finally figures out what I suspected all along, the doctor’s current girlfriend is young Cece!! He just changed her name and gave her plastic surgery!
Cece confesses she knew the dead girl but wasn’t sure what happened to her. She believes the doctor loves her, but admits they gave Ava lots of drugs. Ava is on the other side of the glass when Cece confesses and is convinced to testify against the doctor. Cece is reunited with her father who believed she was dead all these years.
I immediately thought Cece was the doctor’s current girlfriend as soon as I saw the video of the young girl . Cece didn’t seem that old, even though he described them as an old married couple. I knew he had shaped and molded her into some dream of his, especially when the dead girl’s DNA didn’t match Cece. This was an interesting episode. I didn’t expect the women to say the threesomes were consensual and I didn’t expect the doctor to be a murder. I love a good twist.
