This review contains spoilers for The Gifted S2E13 teMpted.
We see that Lauren is realizing something is wrong with the dreams she shares with Andy. Lauren is trying her best to stay awake so Andy can’t “probe” her mind. She doesn’t know that the triplets are the ones behind it, they’re actually the ones in her head, trying to convince her to join the inner circle. She definitely looks like she could use some sleep though so I don’t know how long she thinks she can keep this up. Coffee isn’t going to do the trick forever.
Lauren finally falls asleep and they almost have her. Andy tells her to meet him on the roof top where they meet in their dreams but she breaks away and is able to wake up. She tries to resist but she appears to be losing it. She writes her dad a note and leaves. Reed and John go after her and John uses his gifts to see she’s wandering around in circles, lost.
I feel sorry for Lauren in this situation because all she’s trying to do is do good, with not much direction. Her parents usually seem to be slightly split on their decisions and ways they like to handle situations.
When Reed and John finally catch up to Lauren they see she has almost destroyed a police car along her path. Reed tries to convince her to come home by being honest with her and letting her know he used to listen to the music box when he was little and it seems to have some hypnotizing on affect on him, the way it may be making her feel. Lauren drops her guard and agrees to take the same medicine her father takes to help suppress her powers.
I am ready to see what happens when that medicine runs out. I am wondering if there is a way Kate can develop more of the medicine herself, she was in the facility when it was created. If they can’t get more of those meds the whole family may lose control.
Blink has officially joined the Morlocks. They go a mission when Glow is shot and needs medical attention. There are no real doctors or nurses available to the Morlocks so Blink brings Kate down to help and Erg flips out! He doesn’t trust humans at all, based on past betrayal but I don’t understand how he can just let mutants die, the same people I thought he wanted to save.
Kate is able to save Glow but it requires her, Blink, and Erg to go back to the clinic and for Marco to give her a blood transfusion since their powers seem to be similar.
Let’s go back to this clinic. This is the same clinic that Purifiers destroyed, and is likely still being watched by them. Purifiers show up after they haven’t been in the clinic more than twenty minutes. When they need to get out fast and Kate says “not without Erg,” is when he begins to trust humans again.
Ms. Polaris. Polaris is still playing double agent with the inner circle. When she breaks into Max’s room I know she is going down the wrong route. I actually knew she was going down the wrong route once she started questioning him about their mission.
Polaris’ faces are everything! They all look so genuine. She’s smiling in Max’s face one minute and fearing for her life in the next. Emma Dumont does a wonderful job playing this character.
As Polaris continues to snoop around the inner circle to figure out Reeva’s plan she breaks into the surveillance system and notices Max goes to the liquor store around the same time everyday. She passes this information on to Marco who has impeccable interrogation skills.
Dammit Marco! Marco surprises Max but Max has a surprise for Marco. Max pretends to comply with Marco’s demands but reaches for his gun and shoots Marco! Marco sets the car on fire, I think by accident, and gets out of dodge. Unfortunately for Marco he’s been shot.
The gifted may have started off a bit slow, with setting the foundation and the introduction of all of the characters, their powers, and their backgrounds, but season two is making up for the shortfalls of season one.
I can’t wait to see what happens next. Marco just gave a ton of blood to Glow so I am not sure if he will be able to recover from this one. He also first has to make it back to the apartment or at least be able to call someone for help after he flees the scene of the crime. Polaris! Polaris is going to get herself caught, it seems that much we can tell by the previews for next week’s episode.
