The Resident: Black Death Itself!

This review contains spoilers for S2E12 Fear Finds a Way.

Oh my gosh! The way The Resident is presenting this latest episode is ridiculously creative, showing how fast a virus can spread. When Dr. Bell’s assistant sanitized the chart before letting him touch it I was like “YES!” That’s how you assist.

While disease overruns the hospital Dr. Bell looks into Gordon and QuoVadis. It is obvious Bell doesn’t trust Gordon but has no proof of any wrongdoing. When he finds out the last CEO of a hospital to work with QuoVadis is dead a look a worry takes over his face.

Conrad, Nic, and Dr. Alex suspect a patient may only be ill due to an illness from birds after isolating her. A more serious patient is isolated as well when a rash is discovered on his arm.

I could not imagine what everyone was thinking once face masks were passed out. Chastain has become “the outbreak hospital.”

The plague! “Black death itself” has infecting the ATL (Atlanta). Luckily there is one medicine that will work.

Dr. Okafor is intent on getting Dr. Austin back to work. She tests the QuoVadis mechanical heart valve and it breaks!!! The valve is not built strong enough for younger people. This has got to be one of the best discoveries this season, because I am hoping that this, coupled with the disappearance of Julian, and the dead CEO will expose Gordan.

Conrad surprises Nic with a viewing of a new house for the two of them. However, Conrad did not discuss the idea of moving in together before he took her to the open house. I could tell that was not going to go in Conrad’s favor as soon as I saw Nic’s face.

Moving in together is a big decision, outside of the fact that this is their second go around. I’m not even sure how long they have been together this time. I like them for each other but it seems like Conrad still needs to address his demons.

In the end Conrad thinks that Nic isn’t being honest with him and I think he may have a point. She may have liked him more as a project, something she needs to fix. Now that he is doing better, working on sharing his emotions, maybe her feelings aren’t the same as they once were. Nic says she wants things to “stay the same,” but she needs to better explain to Conrad WHY that is what she wants.

This was an interesting episode and seems to be a good set up for next week where we find out a little more about Julian’s disappearance.

The Resident airs Mondays on FOX.
