This review contains spoilers for S2E13 Virtually Impossible.
Dr. Alston and Dr. Okafor approach Dr. Bell with their discovery of the defective QuoVadis valves. Dr. Alston reveals that he found out his mentor, who endorsed QuoVadis, took money from them to endorse the products. The “Dollars for Docs” website has details on every doctor who received money from medical suppliers…AND GUESS WHO IS ON THE LIIIIIIIIST???? DR. BELL! And the $750,000 he received from QuoVadis!
Of course Gordon is not beating around the bush about his expectation of loyalty from Dr. Bell after he advanced him money, no questions asked. Gordon has already shown us he is about that life and will not hesitate to protect his brand and his company, by any means necessary.
Nic finds out her sister Jess is using drugs again. She has tried on multiple occasions to help her but this may be the last straw. I know this has to be tough for her. You can’t help someone who doesn’t want help. With the opioid epidemic becoming more rampant these I like how the medical television shows give good visuals about how easy it is to get addicted.
The moment we’ve all been waiting for; Julian’s car is found with NO body. I am wondering if she is alive and if the QuoVadis goons have her locked up somewhere. Devon talks Julian’s landlord into giving him a key, but this was not the move. He has no idea that Gordon has put the police on to him. Him breaking in and going through her mail will look suspicious once the police start asking questions.
“Our time on earth begins and ends with a heartbeat.”
When one of Dr. Voss’ patients needs a triple transplant and Dr. Alston is trying to get in the game and off the bench.
I love seeing Ms. “Daphne” back on the screen. Jane Leeves has played the role of Dr. Kitt Voss on The Resident since season 2 episode 4. Most may know her from her role as Daphne Moon on the Cheers spinoff Frasier, from 1993 – 2004.
Dr. Voss’ patient needs a transplant of lungs, a pancreas, and liver. A surgery only ever accomplished successfully once. THIS IS NAILBITING! Even more so because she is live streaming the surgery to her med school class.
The original donor’s lungs are damaged and a lobe of lung must be taken from each of her parents. There are complications removing her mother’s lung.
All organs are placed and now we wait….
…BREATH! Finally, two working lungs! Now she can go on to continue her med school work.
A couple things from this episode to note:
Dr. Bell pulls the QuoVadis heart valves from use and Gordon warns him he’ll regret it. A threat I am sure he plans to follow through on.
Dr. Alston and Dr. Okafor back together again makes me wonder, where is Micah?
Devon is on to QuoVadis and now that he’s told Nic and Conrad, it seems like it’s time for them to jump back into the mystery machine. I need some of that “Emily Thorne” revenge to come out for this one.
I’m noticing a theme here and I like it! These mystery cases each season add an extra layer of suspense to an already interesting, well written, and superbly acted show.
I saw the previews for next week’s episode and someone gives Dr. Okafor a ring. We know Dr. Alston is in love with her but I don’t see him being that bold. I think he will never tell her as long as she is with Micah.
The next episode seems like a Valentine’s day celebration but I really can’t wait to get back to the Julian story line. Where is she??
