Ms. Ava stays making moves! Ava DuVernay is an esteemed black director. She has made history as the first black woman to win a Best Director award at Sundance (Middle of Nowhere) and the first black female director to be nominated for a Golden Globe (Selma). Ms. Ava DuVernay has done it again. She has created an exclusive playlist for Black History Month 2019 in conjunction with Apple music. Ava hopes her playlist will inspire black creatives of tomorrow. “These are the songs by black artists that have shaped and shifted me in so many ways,” Ava says. “This music has guided me both socially and spiritually, framing my feelings about everything from romance to respectability and responsibility. It’s a real pleasure to have them all in one place.”
