This review contains spoilers for S2E19 Snowed In.
Dr. Shaw is slightly on my nerve. I hear his excuse about the clinic being closed because people are snowed in, but I can’t help but feel he just wants to be around Nic.
The opening to this episode was very interesting. Two children drive their father, who is FROZEN, into the hospital. This is very similar to the story line on Station 19 from last week. A daughter drove an RV into the fire station because her mother was having a medical emergency.
With everyone snowed in, Dr. Austin is stuck in the snow storm but he opts to trek on foot to make it in to Chastain for Mina.
When Nic requests a lifesaving surgery for a patient who has a DNR, I’m on the fence. I can see why she does it, but if the surgery goes bad, as it did, then I’m sure the patient would be angry to have had life saving measures when she wanted none. However, seeing this Bill was on her bucket list and Nic could have just made her dreams come true. At least the patient woke up and was understanding about Nic’s decision.
After being literally snowed in, Mina saves the frozen dad. This was a great moment in the show, Mina’s first solo surgery. She gave those children back their father.
Last week we got to see Devon reconnect with Julian. Since Julian is working with Marshall I am sure we will see them again. They seem to be rounding out the season nicely. Nic has made the decision to stay with Conrad, so she told Dr. Shaw, but I hope we see how they plan on making that happen. I would love to see how their story develops as the season nears to an end. The way they said goodbye makes it seem like the end for them. Nic says the same issues keep coming up, but now they seem to be coming from her end. I’m confused, just like I’m sure Conrad is, about the reasons why. I look forward to these coming episodes. I want them to work this second time around but it doesn’t seem like that will happen. If that’s the case I don’t know why they even got back together. There is something holding Nic back from truly committing to Conrad. Could it be fear?
The Resident airs Mondays on FOX.
